My Worst Nightmare...

Ok, so maybe I'm being a bit dramatic. But this has been a fear of mine and it came true this morning...

Lance and I headed for Food City to shop for his young men campout at like 730 this morning(I know we are such early risers). But we finished up our shopping and headed to unload and back to pick up my truck from getting the oil changed.

So anywho, I buckled Brody in the truck, set the keys down, left the door open and went back to help Lance unload the rest of the groceries into the back of the truck. We finished up and I headed to the passenger door, where Brody was sitting. I locked the door (Brody's always trying to unlock the door). and shut it. CRAP! Lance said, "you didn't just lock the door." And I answered ya. I went over to lance's side and he showed me that his side was locked too. NO!!! I was completely consumed with...I don't even know. I felt like I was going to suffocate...I'm the worst mom in the world! I straight up locked my child in the car...and the sun is beating right on him....and the keys are in the car.

For a few seconds, Brody had his bottle in his hands and grinning and smiling. The complete opposite of me...I was bawling- I'm a bit over dramatic. Then he chucked the bottle to the ground and started winning which 8 min. later turned into an upset child. I felt SO bad. Lance called one of his employees to run over to our house and get the spare key. Great idea...except it was going to take him at least 20min! Not so great. I swear people where looking at us like we were crazy. I'm bawling below the truck(so Brody wouldn't see me and get more upset) and Lance has his body to the window making funny faces at B, to try and make him happy. I finally couldn't take it anymore. I said "Lance bust the darn window open and get my baby out!" I know again I'm a bit over dramatic! Just imagine watching your child cry and scream so hard and you can't do anything...then you'll be dramatic too. Any who, since Lance has gotten two warnings about the huge crack in his windshield, we really didn't care about breaking in. So Lance got a drill bit out of the back of the truck and started chipping out the windshield. He got the hole big enough then reached through and unlocked the door! And a nice neighboring man gave us a tiny little broom to sweep up the glass. I was just so happy to have my baby out of the truck. It's funny though, Lance and I were talking later and figured the reason why Brody was so upset is because he was strapped into his car seat! haha. Anywho, that's my story and it sucked!

I'm glad everything is okay. The B man is cute as ever!

Scary!! Don't worry ever since I read this post I've been freaking out that I'm going to do the same thing. I went grocery shopping today and checked like 500 times for my keys haha I feel like being a mom makes you paranoid, but I'm glad everything turned out ok!

Sam accidentally got locked in the car once too. At the airport on the way to catch a plane because my mom had passed away. An airport security guy got the car open. Sam slept through the whole thing. It is an awful feeling!

Don't feel so bad. I did the same thing with Afton except he was only like 3 weeks old! I know that terrible feeling of thinking you're a terrible mom. I was already emotional with hormonal changes and on the verge of a total freak out. Luckily my hubby worked nearby and we had him out within 15 mins. He slept the whole time. If he had started crying I would have broken the window too!
